WwB (What would be...) A good plant recommendation?
Crassula multicava
Common name: Emerald Jade Carpet
Dry shade. How often do we get asked what can grow there? How often do we ask ourselves? And there are precious few choices that remain low-growing, are durable, can compete with the root-competition of trees, flower, and look nice! Anywhere on the southern to central CA coast, and under trees, or next to building protection (for frost sensitivity) inland, Emerald Jade Carpet fills in quickly, is lush green in color, flowers, and is extremely durable and permanent for years of service. Best purchased in 1g. size- spacings up to 2-3’ O.C. Low growing. Overhead watering is best for foliage health- (can get mites when on subterranean irrigation).
Don't forget to ask about the "Certified Label Program," when picking up new plants.
